The walking changes a lot from one part of the country to another. Tasmania and Victoria have tall forests and alpine country, New South Wales has sandstone escarpments and coastal headlands, Queensland has tropical rainforest, and central and northern Australia have ranges, gorges and desert country. Most walks are in national parks, conservation reserves and state forests. Alongside the listings, you’ll find weather information, seasonal guidance and hiking safety resources to help you prepare before heading out.
