West Rim walking track is a 3.5km, grade 3 hike located in the Morton National Park, New South Wales. The hike should take around 1.5 hrs to complete.
Hike overview
For a delightful walk through pristine eucalypt forests and lush rainforest, moderate West Rim walking track offers spectacular views of dramatic gorges and waterfalls in Morton National Park, near Robertson. Nearby Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre offers loads of information on the local highlights, as well as delicious meals, making this walk ideal for family outings and a highlight of a car tour of the Southern Highlands.
Following this gently undulating track, you'll trace the western edge of the horseshoe shaped escarpment leading to Renown lookout. With lookouts along the way, there's plenty of opportunity to stop and enjoy the sweeping views of deep river valleys and waterfalls.
Enjoy the lush ferns and towering forest canopy of coachwood, bloodwood and lilly pilly. Look for the flowering boronia as well as the purple flowering chocolate lilies, with their distinctive scent, in the spring. Getting there
West Rim walking track is in the Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre precinct of Morton National Park. To get there:Travel to Southern Highlands in NSWDrive to Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre, where the walk starts.To access the walk from Nowra, drive along Moss Vale Road Parking Parking is available at the Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre. A daily motor vehicle fee applies at the visitor centre carpark.

This enormous park really does have something for everyone; whether you're an experienced bushwalker looking for remote wilderness hiking, a novice mountain biker looking for an easy ride or a keen photographer looking for some scenic waterfalls to capture.
You'll find imposing gorges dissecting the landscape alongside pockets of rainforest that are full of wildlife. There are a number of well equipped picnic areas and numerous informal spots where you can stop for a break to enjoy the view and if you'd like to go camping, head to Gambells Rest campground in the Bundanoon precinct of the park.
The park is easily accessible from Bundanoon, Kangaroo Valley, Nowra and Ulladulla, so it makes for a great day trip or weekend getaway.
