East Rim and Wildflower walking tracks is a 6.7km, grade 3 hike located in the Morton National Park, New South Wales. The hike should take around 2.5 hrs to complete.
Hike overview
Running from Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre to Warrawong lookout in the northern section of the park, this self-guided wildflower walk is a nature-lover's dream.
Offering a delightful excursion through diverse native plants and trees, the East Rim and Wildflower walking tracks are both scenic and informative. Spot the colourful flowers as you roam the track past a cornucopia of plant communities including dry eucalypt forests, grassy woodlands, heathlands and rainforest areas just bursting with birds. You'll encounter spectacular lookouts with views over the valley as you go, along with helpful signs pointing out interesting flowers, useful hints and details on changing environment.
The first 1.25km, known as Wildflower walk, is an easy stroll that'll introduce you to the the beautiful scenery of Morton National Park. If you're feeling fit and energised, it's easy to extend the walk by following East Rim walk. You'll find several more lookouts that make this walk a photographers dream in the right light.

Getting there
East Rim and Wildflower walking tracks are in the northern precinct of Morton National Park. The tracks begin at the Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre on Nowra Road.It's a half-hour drive from Moss Vale to Fitzroy Falls along Nowra RoadFrom Nowra, take the Princes Highway to the Southern Highlands via Kangaroo ValleyFrom Wollongong it's about an hour to Fitzroy Falls along the Illawarra Highway Parking Parking is available at the Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre where the walks begins. A daily motor vehicle fee applies at the visitor centre carpark.

This enormous park really does have something for everyone; whether you're an experienced bushwalker looking for remote wilderness hiking, a novice mountain biker looking for an easy ride or a keen photographer looking for some scenic waterfalls to capture.
You'll find imposing gorges dissecting the landscape alongside pockets of rainforest that are full of wildlife. There are a number of well equipped picnic areas and numerous informal spots where you can stop for a break to enjoy the view and if you'd like to go camping, head to Gambells Rest campground in the Bundanoon precinct of the park.
The park is easily accessible from Bundanoon, Kangaroo Valley, Nowra and Ulladulla, so it makes for a great day trip or weekend getaway.
