The Irwin Track Rail Trail is a proposed 5-kilometer trail that would connect the Millaa Millaa township with Moregatta.
This scenic route would pass through farmland and meander alongside two reserves containing the famed Millaa Millaa Falls. Currently, the only access to the falls for hikers and cyclists is via the busy Palmerston Highway, making a dedicated trail a welcome alternative.
Recognising the potential benefits for both conservation and public enjoyment, the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency nominated the Irwin Track Rail Trail for Heritage Listing in January 2007. With the Eacham Shire Council currently considering this nomination, there's hope that development of the trail can begin soon.
