Hike summary
This very long day walk has some stunning views excellent heritage sites a Zoo and beautiful beaches. What more could you ask for? The many sidetrips and places to stop and enjoy the views having a coffee at the Bacino Bar or fish and chips on Balmoral Beach will all make this walk an excellent way to ease into longer distance walking. The walk spends most of its time on the coast and follows the Spit to Manly walk for the last half.

And with the harbour's staggering coastline creating an endless natural lookout, the park's jaw-dropping views simply have to be seen to be believed. If you're at one of the park's lookouts during winter, be sure to keep a lookout for whales on their annual migration north.

I’ve done this one – didn’t take 8 hours more like 6 – but heartbreak hill lived up to its name. It well worth the effort this hike is amazing as you get incredible water views along the way.
