Whether you're taking a dip at Long Beach, enjoying the playground, or strolling along the river to Blinking Billy Lighthouse, the Sandy Bay foreshore offers the perfect spot to unwind year-round. This 3-kilometer, grade 1 hike in Sandy Bay, Tasmania, typically takes about an hour to complete. Long Beach is a favorite for cooling off during summer, especially for families with young children. When swimming isn't an option, kids can enjoy the playground or kick a ball around on the Sandown Park oval. The short walk along the shore to Blinking Billy Point and up to Alexandra Battery, with its historic gun emplacements and tunnels, is also a must-do. The return journey can either retrace your steps or vary slightly for a different perspective.
