Old Granite Quarry Walk is an 5km, grade 3 circuit hike in Cape Woolamai Faunal Reserve, Victoria. This hike typically takes 2 hours to complete.
Hike Overview
Immerse yourself in history and nature on the Old Granite Quarry Walk, a 5-kilometer (moderate) loop trail within Cape Woolamai Faunal Reserve. This roughly 2-hour adventure takes you past the remnants of a bustling 19th-century granite quarry, now transformed into a peaceful cove. Enjoy captivating views of the surrounding wildlife and the distant beaches of San Remo.
The walk starts with a short return along the road before you follow the marked trail. Weave through coastal scrub and banksia woodland, eventually reaching Cleeland Bight. Be mindful that high tides can make this section impassable. Turn right onto the beach and follow the coastline until you reach the fascinating Old Granite Quarry. Take a moment to imagine the quarry's active past before looping back towards the car park via the inland track. Remember to turn right at the junction to complete your historical and scenic journey.

The Old Granite Quarry Walk was a fantastic way to spend a morning. It offered a good mix of challenge (those beach hills!), history, and stunning coastal views. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants a unique perspective on Phillip Island.
