Hike Summary
This hike provides an alternative route to Mt Lofty Summit from Waterfall Gully. The trail leaves the main Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty trail between First and Second Falls and rejoins just below the Youth Hostel. Much of the trail is on wide fire track, so can be suitable for large groups. Some sections are steep. Higher up enjoy the forests as the fire track follows the ridges up Chinamans Hut Track.
About the region
Cleland Conservation Park is a protected area located in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia about 22 kilometres south-east of the Adelaide city centre.
Getting there
On a busy weekend, car parking at Waterfall Gully can be limited.
Tips
Starting hiking from Mt Lofty instead of Waterfall Gully can be a good way to use the downhill as a warm up, to super charge your up-hill efforts.
