Hike Summary
This is a proposed rail trail and is not yet open. It is one of the potential Rail Trails identified throughout TAS.
Mole Creek is an attractive township in a valley on the route to Cradle Mountain.
The station precinct is of interest if in the area.
It includes some interpretive signage.
The line to Mole Creek branched off from Lemana Junction near Deloraine and opened in 1890. Timber pulp traffic kept it going longer than many other similar branchlines until 1985.

Mole Creek is a very special place. The camp ground in Mole Creek is beautiful quite space and a perfect place to stay if you’re making your way to/from Hobart to Cradle Mt. We’ve stayed there a couple of times and have always seen at least 1 Platypus swimming in the creek at night. I’d highly recommend stopping by if you’re taking a trip to Tasmania ?
