Hike overview
The Three Sisters walking track, in Broken Head Nature Reserve, New South Wales, is a perfect day trip for families. This easy 1.6km hike, taking around 45 minutes to complete, leads you through a lush rainforest culminating in a spectacular lookout.
As you meander through the rainforest, immerse yourself in the beauty of the native plants and trees. Emerge from the vibrant foliage and be greeted by a breathtaking panorama. Overlooking Kings Beach, the lookout offers stunning views of secluded beaches, rocky coves, and the dense rainforest that you just traversed.
The lookout is particularly impressive in winter and spring. During these seasons, you might be lucky enough to spot migrating whales or witness the clash between air and sea wildlife as white-bellied sea eagles dive for food. The headland also comes alive with colorful wildflowers, adding another layer of beauty to the scene.
Take a moment to learn about the Aboriginal story of the Three Sisters, the rocky outcrops that lend their name to the hike. Alternatively, extend your adventure by strolling along the beach, feeling the cool sand between your toes, and soaking in the serenity under the shade of a tree at the rainforest's edge.
