“The walk passes the base of the magnificent Bridal Falls and climbs steeply to Govetts Leap Lookout.” No it doesn’t, that track is still closed. You have to go down and up Perrys Lookdown or walk to Victoria Falls, Lockleys Pylon, or Pierces Pass. The good news is that the road has been rebuilt and upgraded so it’s now a tarmac road nearly all the way to the lookout.
Mountains Mishaps thanks for the update. I was there mid December and saw the closed section. I’m assuming the track will reopen one day or is it going to be permanently closed?
Trail Hiking Australia Apparently NPWS is working on re-opening the Horse Track, which is another way out of the valley, via Evans Lookout. I’ve heard nothing about the track from Govetts Leap to Junction Rock yet but I suppose that a track that has been open for more than a century will be re-opened one day. It has been closed ever since the 2019-2020 fires and storms damaged it severely.
Mountains Mishaps yeah when I was there in saw a heap of bags full of gravel so looks like the repair is progressing. Time will tell
Trail Hiking Australia Rodriguez Pass will, however, remain closed and this will be permanent.
Matt Re this is exactly what I was talking about hahaha
Oh wow! I was 12-13 years old when I last went here … scary to think half a century ago… I wonder ?… has it changed?
I guess many more people go there now compared to when I was a boy living out an adventure
