The Murrumbidgee Valley Rail Trail is an ambitious project in the pipeline. Envisioned as a 74km trail spanning rural New South Wales, it promises a scenic journey for hikers and cyclists. While currently under development, this trail has the potential to become a major draw for the region.
The proposed route winds through picturesque countryside, connecting Cootamundra, Coolac, Gundagai, and Tumblong. History buffs will appreciate traversing past the charming town of Gundagai and its heritage-listed timber bridge. The trail also brushes by the Dog on the Tuckerbox precinct, a famous landmark.
Imagine cycling past remnants of the old railway line, a testament to the area's past. Access points will be conveniently located throughout the trail, with the Dog on the Tuckerbox park serving as a central point. This project, similar to the successful Tumbarumba to Rosewood trail, aims to boost tourism and support local businesses.
Important to note: The Murrumbidgee Valley Rail Trail is not yet open to the public. The land is owned by Transport NSW and includes private property. Trespassing is strictly prohibited. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project's development.
