Set amongst an impressive landscape of natural bushland, a sea of wheat fields, rocky outcrops and 1300 wildflower species, this is a spectacular walk, especially in Spring. Drive out via New Norcia and make a day of it.
Starting at the interpretive trailhead in the Car Park, make your way up the rocky stairs onto the flat hill of Mount Matilda, the highest peak within the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu. The trail has two loops to choose from. The 4.8km "Gimlet Gully Flora Loop" features a yellow marker with a Bird symbol while the longer 7km loop follows a yellow marker with a thorny devil. Both trails venture to the western side of the mesa to take in the views of wheat and Lake Hinds. Highlights include the views at speakers chair

AWTGS represents easy walking tracks that offer a slightly more challenging experience compared to Grade 1. Similar to Grade 1, no prior bushwalking experience is required. The track surface is typically hardened or compacted and may have gentle hill sections or occasional steps. The total distance of a Grade 2 walk is typically no greater than 10 kilometers. These walks are still suitable for families with a bit more experience or those seeking a gentle introduction to some inclines.

Really nice walk took 2.15hrs for longer trail. Great views a few wild flowers about still but would recommend Sep for a more colourful show. But track well maintained and loads of info on the track.
