This easy three kilometre loop walk takes you through the Creery Wetlands. Whether you are interested in Birds, wildlife in general, or just enjoy a stroll by the estuary, Mandurah's wetland areas are a fascinating and enjoyable environment to explore.
The Creery Wetlands are completely gated to protect the wildlife from foxes and stray cats. There are two Boardwalks overlooking the estuary with information panels, a viewing platform and a Bird hide, so is a great spot to see waterBirds. The pathway is flat and firm and heading back you have the option of returning through the wetlands, or you exit the gated area and follow the footpath back. The Creery Wetlands are an important habitat for waterBirds, including 22 species of migratory shoreBirds. These extraoRoadinary Birds, some weighing only 30 grams, spend the southern summer on lakes and beaches in Australia, then fly north to catch the summer in their northern hemisphere breeding grounds. The reserve is also home to a population of Quendas, a native marsupial. The Nature Reserve is located on the north-eastern side of the Peel Inlet, adjacent to the Mariners Cove residential estate and south-east of the Mandurah Bypass bridge. Toilets are available at the nearby Mariners Cove Cafe.
