Hike Overview
Explore the scenic Brinktop Reserve & Richmond Park Track, a 5.5 km, grade 2 hike nestled in Richmond, Tasmania, offering an enriching journey lasting approximately 1.5 hours.
Meandering through a lush corridor of trees along Brinktop Road, the track follows the northern boundary of Richmond Park, an iconic colonial property dating back to the 1810s. As you ascend gently towards Brinktop Hill, the trail intersects a tranquil road before leading into the Brinktop Bushland Reserve. Within this sanctuary, a circuit track unveils panoramic vistas across the Coal River Valley and the historic township of Richmond, boasting a wealth of rare and endangered plant species.
To begin your adventure, park at the riverside carpark off Bathurst Street (below the gaol) and follow the scenic path along the Coal River to the renowned Richmond Bridge. Ascend to road level, cross the bridge, and continue eastward along Wellington Street, passing by charming historic homes until you reach the gravel track at Morgan Street, marking the commencement of your exploration.
Track Grade
Grade 2 (Easy) -Â A Gentle Introduction to Inclines: Grade 2 on the AWTGS represents easy walking tracks that offer a slightly more challenging experience compared to Grade 1. Similar to Grade 1, no prior bushwalking experience is required. The track surface is typically hardened or compacted and may have gentle hill sections or occasional steps. The total distance of a Grade 2 walk is typically no greater than 10 kilometers. These walks are still suitable for families with a bit more experience or those seeking a gentle introduction to some inclines.

Getting there
Park at the Richmond Bridge carpark off Wellington Street and cross the road to the footpath on the south side. Walk east along Wellington Street past historic homes until the start of the track is reached at Morgan Street.
