Federation Walk is a 3.5 kilometre pedestrian walkway located on a natural section of the area known as The Spit. Federation Walk begins at a fig tree in the parking lot opposite the entrance to Sea World. The walk continues through patches of rainforest where regular community planting days are held. After leaving the Federation Walk Coastal Reserve, the walk continues under the sand bypass jetty and along the pathway to the southern training wall of the Gold Coast Seaway. The tip of the walk is at the end of the Gold Coast ocean way from where you can take in spectacular views of the coastline.
Grade 2 (Easy) - A Gentle Introduction to Inclines: Grade 2 on the
AWTGS represents easy walking tracks that offer a slightly more challenging experience compared to Grade 1. Similar to Grade 1, no prior bushwalking experience is required. The track surface is typically hardened or compacted and may have gentle hill sections or occasional steps. The total distance of a Grade 2 walk is typically no greater than 10 kilometers. These walks are still suitable for families with a bit more experience or those seeking a gentle introduction to some inclines.

About the region
The Spit is the northern most section of the famous Gold Coast stretch of beach incorporating Main Beach and Surfers Paradise all the way south to Coolangatta. As the name suggests, The Spit extends into the seaway and is the gateway between the Gold Coast Broadwater and the open ocean.
The area near the seaway is currently used for public parklands (Doug Jennings Park on the Broadwater and Philip Park on the ocean side) making it a popular location for picnics, fishing, boating, dog walking and relaxing.
A walkway adjacent to the sand pumping jetty gives visitors access to the off leash' dog beach which is very popular on weekends. Pop into the Seaway Kiosk, which is famous for its crab sandwiches.
