Enjoy a tranquil journey along the Kettering Point Track, a charming 2.5km Grade 2 hike nestled in the picturesque enclave of Kettering, Tasmania. Offering approximately 1 hour of leisurely exploration, this trail is an ideal pastime while awaiting the Bruny Island ferry.
Commencing at the terminus of Ferry Road, this gentle stroll meanders alongside the shoreline, offering enchanting glimpses of the shimmering waters and bobbing boats framed by the graceful silhouettes of sheoak trees. As you progress, be prepared to be captivated by panoramic views unfurling along the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, with Bruny Island adorning the horizon.
Thanks to the diligent efforts of the Kettering Coastcare/Landcare Group, these tracks wind through lightly wooded coastal bushland, their paths cleared of choking weeds to unveil the natural splendor that lies within. Delight in the vibrant avian symphony as myriad bird species flit and chirp amidst the black gums and blue gums, their melodious tunes harmonizing with the rustling of the varied understorey.

A Gentle Introduction to Inclines: Grade 2 on the
AWTGS represents easy walking tracks that offer a slightly more challenging experience compared to Grade 1. Similar to Grade 1, no prior bushwalking experience is required. The track surface is typically hardened or compacted and may have gentle hill sections or occasional steps. The total distance of a Grade 2 walk is typically no greater than 10 kilometers. These walks are still suitable for families with a bit more experience or those seeking a gentle introduction to some inclines.

Getting there
Getting to the trailhead: Kettering.
The Kettering Point to Trial Bay Track starts at the end of Ferry Road, Kettering or you can access from Trial Bay near the boat ramp where there is more parking. Limited parking is available at the end of Ferry Road, while Trial Bay offers convenient amenities including toilets, BBQ facilities, and inviting picnic spots, perfect for post-hike relaxation.
