Discover Woowookarung Regional Park

Woowookarung Regional Park, situated approximately 100 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, is located on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung Aboriginal people. Established in 2016, this 641-hectare park offers a range of recreational opportunities for the community.

Immerse yourself in the park’s natural beauty by exploring its diverse ecosystems, including Messmate Stringybark, Grass Trees, and native heath. Enjoy walking, trail running, or cycling through the park’s scenic landscapes. Leashed dogs are welcome to join you on your adventures, and horse riding is permitted within designated areas. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including kangaroos, echidnas, and a variety of bird species.

For mountain bike enthusiasts, two trails are located behind Mount Clear College. The park also features Australia’s first Dementia-friendly Forest and Sensory Trail, offering a tranquil and accessible experience for people living with dementia.

Woowookarung Regional Park is conveniently located adjoining the suburbs of Ballarat East, Canadian, and Mount Clear. Access is available from several roads, including York Street in Ballarat East and Recreation Road in Mount Clear.
