We recognise and acknowledge the Whadjuk people as the Traditional Owners of Beelu National Park.
Just 40 kilometres east of Perth, Beelu National Park sits in the heart of the Darling Range, near the town of Mundaring. Once known as Mundaring National Park, it was renamed to honour the Beelu people, who lived among these towering jarrah and marri forests for thousands of years. The park is a fantastic destination for bushwalks, hikes, and relaxed strolls through nature, with scenic views, abundant wildlife, and rich cultural history waiting to be discovered.
Beelu National Park is home to a network of walking trails, including sections of the renowned Bibbulmun Track, one of Australia’s longest and most iconic long-distance hikes. The trails weave through forests of jarrah, marri, wandoo, and grasstrees, offering peaceful surroundings for all types of walkers. In spring, the bushland bursts into colour with wildflowers, making it a spectacular time for a bushwalk. Along the way, keep an eye out for native wildlife, from western grey kangaroos and echidnas to black cockatoos soaring overhead.
One of the park’s most recognisable landmarks is Mundaring Weir, a historic dam that plays a vital role in Western Australia’s water supply. The surrounding area provides stunning viewpoints, where you can take in sweeping panoramas of the forested valleys below. For those looking to extend their visit, the Perth Hills Discovery Centre offers camping facilities, picnic spots, and nature-based activities through the Nearer to Nature program, making it a great spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
