The Awaba to Wangi Wangi Rail Trail is a proposed 10-kilometer track connecting the village of Awaba with Wangi Wangi and other lakeside suburbs on the western shores of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales. This potential trail offers a nice way to get between Awaba's heritage railway station and Wangi Wangi for cyclists and walkers.
The eastern end of the trail starts at the disused and state heritage-listed Wangi Wangi Power Station. The route goes through attractive bushland with some deep cuts along the way.
Starting southwest of the existing Awaba Railway Station, the trail quickly enters typical bushland. After about 1 kilometer, you'll reach the Awaba Colliery site. There are several deep cuts along the path.
