We recognise and acknowledge the Wardandi people as the Traditional Owners of Wooditjup National Park.

Nestled in the South West region of Western Australia, Wooditjup National Park is a natural retreat just minutes from the heart of Margaret River and a three-hour drive south of Perth. Encompassing 3,892 hectares of forest, this protected area was formerly known as Bramley National Park before being renamed in 2018 to honour the land’s Traditional Custodians. Towering jarrah, marri, and karri trees dominate the landscape, creating a striking backdrop for hikers, bushwalkers, and cyclists exploring its diverse trails.

The park is rich in wildlife, serving as an important habitat for native species, including the western ringtail possum, brush-tailed phascogale, and quenda. Birdwatchers will find plenty to admire, from colourful parrots to the calls of forest-dwelling species hidden among the trees. In spring, the undergrowth comes alive with wildflowers, adding bursts of colour to the trails.

For those keen to explore on foot, Wooditjup National Park offers an excellent selection of walks and hikes suitable for all levels. The Ten Mile Brook Trail is a scenic cycle and walking track that leads to Ten Mile Brook Dam, covering a moderately easy route that takes around four hours to complete. A shorter option is the Chimney Trail, a 3.2-kilometre loop that passes the historic Wharncliffe Mill site, where a towering brick chimney remains as a relic of the area’s timber industry. The Rotary South Bank River Trail provides an even gentler option, meandering 2.4 kilometres along the banks of the Margaret River.

For those looking to extend their stay, the RAC Margaret River Nature Park, located within the national park, offers a range of accommodation, including camping sites, cabins, safari tents, and dorm rooms. With its close proximity to Margaret River’s town centre, visitors can enjoy the best of both worlds—immersing themselves in nature while remaining within easy reach of local cafés, wineries, and shops.

Wooditjup National Park is free to access and open year-round, with its trails offering a different experience in every season. While pets are not permitted to protect the local wildlife, the park provides a variety of well-maintained trails and facilities, making it an inviting destination for nature lovers of all fitness levels.
