Neville Lawrie Reserve is a substantial bushland reserve at Priestdale on Brisbane’s southern side, within Logan City. It sits beside Daisy Hill Conservation Park and forms part of the Koala Bushland Coordinated Conservation Area, a linked stretch of protected forest and council-managed conservation land that creates a much larger block of habitat than the reserve would provide on its own.

That setting gives the place a distinctly peri-urban character. Even though it is close to the city, the reserve is part of a continuous belt of eucalypt forest and wetland vegetation that helps hold wildlife habitat together across local government and state-managed boundaries.

The reserve’s main appeal is its broad sweep of bushland adjoining Daisy Hill, with forested ridgelines and lower-lying pockets that connect into a larger conservation landscape. The scenery is typical of the district’s dry forest and paperbark-fringed wet areas, with changing light through tall gums and sections where the bush feels more enclosed and shaded. Best Time to Visit

The cooler months from autumn to early spring are usually the most comfortable time to be out in this part of South East Queensland, when temperatures are milder and the forest is generally more pleasant for a longer walk. After summer rain, the bush can feel fresher and greener, especially in the lower, wetter parts of the reserve.

Spring is also a rewarding time for seeing flowering eucalypts, grasses and understory plants as the bush shifts into a more active season for birds and other wildlife.
