This 75-acre forested reserve is home to the only surviving nineteenth-century blast furnace in the Southern Hemisphere.

The area’s rich history is evident in the well-preserved iron mine and blast furnace complex. Interpretive signage provides insights into the region’s industrial past and the challenges faced by the Lal Lal Iron Company in the late nineteenth century.
