Huon Hill: A Scenic Escape for Walks and Hikes

Huon Hill Regional Park, located near Albury in New South Wales, approximately 300 kilometres north-east of Melbourne, offers a captivating escape for those seeking outdoor pursuits. This parkland acknowledges the Duduroa-speaking people as the Traditional Custodians of the land.

Rising 263 metres above the Murray and Kiewa River plains, Huon Hill provides breathtaking panoramas of Lake Hume, the Kiewa Valley, the Alpine region, and the twin cities of Albury and Wodonga. Whether you prefer leisurely walks, invigorating hikes, or simply enjoying a picnic amidst nature, Huon Hill caters to diverse preferences. The park features several lookout points offering exceptional views of the surrounding landscape.

Spanning 238 hectares, the park showcases steep rolling hills interspersed with rocky outcrops. Visitors can immerse themselves in stunning vistas encompassing Albury, Wodonga, Lake Hume, Mount Bogong, Mount Feathertop, the Kiewa Valley, Bonegilla, Baranduda Range, Table Top Mountain, and the Murray Valley towards Corowa.

While Huon Hill offers opportunities for recreation and relaxation, it is essential to exercise caution in certain areas. The Stringybark Trail near the information shelter and the Bundy Trail near Huon Hill Lookout involve some steep sections and require crossing Kenneth Watson Drive. It is advisable to carry drinking water during your visit.

Indigenous Australians have called this land home for over 60,000 years, with evidence of their presence scattered throughout the park. Campfires once dotted the landscape, telling stories of travel and resource management.

Huon Hill Regional Park presents an exceptional opportunity to experience the beauty of nature. From the thrill of challenging hikes to the serenity of leisurely walks, there is something for everyone.
