A Living Laboratory: Waite Conservation Reserve
Waite Conservation Reserve is a significant ecological site located approximately 10 kilometres south-east of Adelaide, South Australia. Renowned as one of the largest and best-preserved examples of Grey Box Grassy Woodland in the state, the reserve supports a diverse array of native plants and animals, including kangaroos, koalas, and echidnas.
Managed in partnership with the Friends of Waite Conservation Reserve, the park offers a range of opportunities for visitors, from guided walks and volunteer programs to independent exploration. The reserve’s network of trails invites visitors to immerse themselves in the natural environment and appreciate the region’s biodiversity.
It is important to note that Waite Conservation Reserve is a wildlife sanctuary, and dogs are not permitted. The park is open to the public from dawn to dusk, except on days of total fire ban declared for the Mount Lofty Ranges.
