Little River Gorge Walk is a 7.5km, grade 4 hike located in the Brisbane Ranges National Park, Victoria. The hike should take around 3.5 hrs to complete. The Brisbane Ranges offers a fantastic variety of hiking opportunities through a range of habitats. This lesser known section, just off The Burchell Trail, explores a reasonably short yet dramatic gorge, the Little River Gorge.
Note: The road to the trail head is gravel and is rough getting in so be sure your vehicle has a bit of clearance and you allow plenty of time. Please plan to arrive by 8:45am.
Note: This hike has some off trail sections with river crossings and sections along the river, so be prepared to get your feet wet. Hiking poles recommended.
Suggested items to pack: Day pack with snacks, lunch, 2 litres of water, first aid kit and a torch. If you have a PLB, bring it.
Pace: We will be setting a reasonable pace and expect to complete the circuit in around 3.5 hours with only a few short stops. I don’t want to sound mean but if you know you are slow on steep or rugged terrain, it’s probably best to find another hike this time.
