Summary

Penguin Island is a magnet for nature lovers and is home to the largest colony of Little Penguins (also known as Fairy Penguins). The trail starts at the Penguin Experience Island Discovery Centre and allows walkers to experience close encounters with the flora and fauna.

It features a mud map and other information to help you discover and learn about the plants and animals of the island.Commentaries and feeding of the little penguins in the Discovery Center occurs at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.Whilst on the island, you can snorkel, surf, swim, windsurf and have a picnic – however, it’s important to stick to the walk trails and demarcated beaches only as the island is a Bird sanctuary. To access Penguin Island, drive or take the train to Rockingham.  Rockingham Wild Encounters operate the only ferry that leaves from here for the five minute ferry ride to the island.
