Mt Frankland is a 1.5km, grade 4 hike located in the Walpole, Western Australia. The hike should take around 45 mins to complete.
Hike summary
Located in the Mount Frankland National Park near Walpole, this short but steep loop walk takes you to the peak of Mount Frankland for fantastic views of the karri forest and Frankland River below. Combining a walk around the base of the granite mount, surrounded by towering karri forest and superb summit views this trail is sure to impress.
Whilst at the top, look for the plaque that has the original Aboriginal name of Mount Frankland, as well as directions pointing to other landmarks. On descent, walk the loop trail around the rock to immerse yourself in one of the best granite and karri areas in the south west. The trail starts next to the Car Park, at the base of Mount Frankland. There are a few options, you can climb to its peak for breathtaking views, enjoy the walk trail around the base or combine both, the best option. Start on the bitumen track and climb to the top of the dome. The climb is mainly concrete steps requiring a short ladder climb so a reasonable level of fitness is required. After decending, walk the 1.5 kilometre loop trail around the rock. For more information, view the Parks and Wildlife brochure or the "South West" walks book
