Hike Summary
This is a proposed rail trail and is not yet open. It is one of the potential Rail Trails identified throughout NSW.
Given that the former railway passes through mature forest and could link up with other trails in the area, the Lake Macquarie council may consider developing this as a rail trail. Indications of support to the council would obviously encourge the council.

Ca Ro worked at Awaba State Coal Mine for 22 years – coal was loaded and transported from Awaba via the rail system to Wangi Power Station. The good old days ?

Hopefully we can all do this walk together some day – would be very special given your & Jan’s close connection to both places!
