Hike overview

The Bilya Walk Track follows the Avon river for 7.2 kilometres from Duigee Park to Nardie Cemetery. The Bird Hide, situated at Red Banks Pool, Lloyd Reserve, attracts many Bird lovers and passers-by along the track can not help but pause to admire its design, peer through its windows to the river and read the attractive and informative posters depicting some of the common Birdlife in the area.

The Bilya Walk Trail is a great walk trail taking in the banks of the Avon River through Toodyay. There is a grand array of Birdlife and scenic views of the Avon RIver. It is possible to pop up to Toodyay for refreshments. Bilya means river in Noongar language.The Avon River (Gulgulga Bilya) is a place of great cultural significance to the BallaRoadong people. Please respect the environment and wildlife.

Start Point: Nardie Cemetery, on Nardie Drive off Northam Toodyay Road, Toodyay which is 85km (1hr 15mins) north east of Perth.

Toodyay is an historic Western Australian town - an easy day trip from Perth and is located on the Avon River. Today it is a popular day tripper destination with large numbers of cafes and gift shops. The primary appeal of the town lies in the exceptional museum inside Connor's Mill and the genuinely fascinating histories that are told inside the Newcastle Gaol. On weekends it is popular and often crowded. An ideal place to drive from Perth and spend the day.
