Sea to Summit Trail - Kingston Park Beach to Mt Lofty Summit is a 31km, grade 1 hike located in Belair National Park, South Australia. The hike should take around 2 days to complete.
Hike overview
A unique trail from the beach at Kingston Park, near Brighton, to the summit of Mount Lofty - 32km with a total height gain of 1400 metres from sea to summit. The trail links existing walking tracks and a series of streets to create a challenging walk experience. Do it as a one day challenge, or split into a 2 day walk.
The trail is largely unmarked, but is a series of walking trails and roadside or reserve connections. An excellent map has been produced by the Friends of the Heysen Trail, Scout Outdoor Centre and Earth Adventure. There are trailhead signs at Kingston Beach. The map project was supported by funds from C Warren Bonython AO, Elfi Driscoll and Julian Monfries.
The Friends of the Heysen Trail conduct a walk along the trail every two years, often split into a single-day whole-trail event and second event split over two days.
A topographic trail map with track notes and photos at a scale of 1:25 000 has been produced. Purchase from:

About the region
Set in beautiful natural bushland, Belair National Park is just 25 minutes from Adelaide city centre. This is South Australia's oldest national park, and is home to Old Government House €“ a significant heritage building. Also in the park is State Flora, the oldest plant nursery in South Australia and still going strong today. The park remains one of the few relatively undisturbed areas of native vegetation in the Adelaide Hills region, making it an important refuge for native plants and animals.
