Hopetoun - Ravensthorpe Railway Heritage Walk is a 39km, grade 2 hike located in Regional Western Australia, Western Australia. The hike should take around 2 days to complete.
Hike overview
Follows a former isolated railway through natural bush
- Ravensthorpe - Desmond (16 km) Some of this section of the former line has been sold off so there is a deviation of a few kilometres along the Ravensthorpe Range foothills.
- Desmond - Kundip (9 km)
- Kundip - Lee Creek (13 km)
- Hopetoun Trailhead loop (14 km) of which about 5 km is on the former railway. At Hopetoun remains of the jetty can be seen.
Ravensthorpe Hopetoun Area Promotions who with the Tourist Bureau have produced separate brochures for each of the sections above. The trail committee has made a special effort to preserve the depression made by sleepers and there are artefacts along the way. The railway was built to connect mines in the Ravensthorpe area to the Hopetoun port and operated from 1909 - 1935
