Hike overview
The Fingal Valley Rail Trail is an exciting project in the works, envisioned as a 20km trail for hikers and cyclists in Northern Tasmania. While currently unavailable, the trail's planned route stretches from Fingal to St Marys.
Even before the trail's completion, visitors can immerse themselves in railway history at the St Marys station precinct. The well-preserved station building now houses the "Cranks and Tinkerers" museum, brimming with historical artifacts and literature that bring the area's rich past to life. The original water tank, once used to quench the thirst of steam engines, stands as a testament to a bygone era.
The proposed Fingal Valley Rail Trail promises an adventure for all. With its estimated 8-hour completion time, the trail is suited for experienced hikers and cyclists seeking a scenic journey. The surrounding countryside likely offers stunning vistas and a chance to commune with nature.
Please note: The Fingal Valley Rail Trail is currently under development. Only the St Marys station precinct is accessible to the public. Stay tuned for updates on the trail's progress!
