    Hello, fellow hikers,

I am going to Spain for some business work next month, and I will have 2-3 days off to do some hiking. I am looking for some recommendations.

I have done some research and found some interesting options, such as the Camino de Santiago, the Picos de Europa, the Pico Sobarcal in the Pyrenees, the Sierra Nevada, and the Caminito del Rey. However, I am not sure which one would be best for me. Has anyone done any of these hikes or have any other suggestions? I would appreciate any advice or tips on how to plan my trip and make the most of my hiking experience. Also, I was checking out this route planner at https://www.trailhiking.com.au/route-planner/, but it seems to not be working. Can anyone help with the usage?

It sounds like you have some great hiking options lined up! The Picos de Europa and Pyrenees offer stunning mountain landscapes, while the Camino de Santiago is more of a cultural and long-distance trek. Caminito del Rey is a short but dramatic walk with breathtaking views, and the Sierra Nevada has high-altitude trails if you’re up for a challenge.

Your best choice depends on what kind of hike you’re looking for—scenic mountains, cultural experience, or an adrenaline rush. Do you prefer multi-day hikes or shorter day trips?

As for the route planner, it should be working fine. Could you share what specific issue you’re encountering? I’d be happy to help troubleshoot! 😊

We were in Spain recently.  Caminito del Rey is very over-crowded – bus after bus load of people, long queues.  There are better places to go.  We hiked Gaztelugatxe – short but uncrowded off-season, a must for any Game of Thrones fans. It is not far from Picos de Europe and Pyrenees.  Depending on where work takes you, you will have lots to keep you occupied for 2-3 days if you can get to Basque Country (Bilbao).

We also spent time in southern Andalusia, dry compared to the green north west, lots of mountains and history, you can’t go wrong exploring there either.
