The Heritage Walk Trail is a 1.2km, grade 1 hike located in Pinjarra, Western Australia. The hike should take around 45 minutes to complete.
Hike overview
A delightful walk all year round, The Heritage Trail takes you through the historic town of Pinjarra in the Peel Region of WA to admire its heritage buildings, down to the tree lined banks of the Murray River and the pedestrian suspension bridge. An easy 1.2km walk taking approximately 1 hour.
The Heritage Trail walk is really just a pleasant walk through the town of Pinjarra, one of the oldest settled areas in Western Australia. Begin the trail starting at the Court House (1935) and the Post Office (1895), which in season has the most beautiful yellow frangipani outside, and down beside the Murray River. Pass the pedestrian suspension bridge and cross over the South Western Highway to visit St Johns Church (consecrated in 1863), the Old Schoolhouse (1896) and the privately owned Liveringa (1885), an attractive colonial homestead with wide verandahs. Don't forget to visit the beautiful Edenvale (1888), a huge and gracious dwelling of 18 rooms built from locally fired bricks and consisting of the house as well as barns, a dairy and two small houses.

About the region
Pinjarra is a rural service town which, in recent times, has become a popular daytripper destination for Perth holidaymakers wanting to visit the local zoo or take pleasant walks in the hinterland. It has had a star-crossed history being the setting for one of the bloodiest massacres of Aborigines in Western Australian history and the home of Fairbridge, a British child migration scheme housing facility, which resulted in appalling abuse of hundreds of the children between 1913 and 1981.
