I want to share my passion for hiking with as many outdoor adventurers as I can.

Trail Hiking Australia is a non-commercial initiative (which started as a hobby) that has been personally developed and funded by me, Darren Edwards. My site was launched publicly in 2015 and has quickly grown to become the leading online source of trail and hike information in Victoria. My site is used by many clubs throughout Victoria as well as by domestic and international visitors to this state.

I spend a lot of time researching and recording trails, preparing hiking tips and reviewing gear so that I can improve your hiking experience. A lot of people now use my site as a go-to resource for their outdoor adventures. I am expanding this site daily to bring you more great trails and I definitely can’t do that without your help.

If you are able to offer your support it would go a long way to helping out.

  1. Thank you to everyone who have graciously supported this initiative. I have put a lot of time, energy and money into building this resource and every bit of support received is very mush appreciated.

  2. Hi. I am training for the alpine walking track in early November. I am planning to do a couple of more training walks. We did monda track, black ranges forest yesterday and used your gpx download that was fantastic. I tried to use gpx tracker app to record another trail today but had no luck. Which app do you recommend to use so that I can record trails to add to the site? Cheers fiona

    1. Hi Fiona. Really pleased you found the GPX file useful. I track all my hikes using a SUUNTO GPS. I don’t generally use apps for tracking hikes due to the battery drain on the phone. I have used wikilocs and navionics. I’ve written a few reviews of my favourite apps here: https://www.trailhiking.com.au/navigation/smartphone-trail-navigation/
