Summary

The scenic West Ridge of Mt Buller is one of the most exhilarating ridge hikes in the Victorian Alps. There are sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and the rugged terrain is a real eye-opener to those unfamiliar with this less visited side of the mountain.

This Mount Buller Traverse ascends the West Ridge Trail to the summit of Mt Buller, then descends the mountain via the untracked McLaughan Shoulder and the Klingsporn Track.

Only for the very fit, this involves a 1200 meter climb, one step after the other always up.

Total distance: 19871 m
Max elevation: 1773 m
Min elevation: 599 m
Total climbing: 1321 m
Total descent: -1320 m

  1. Hiked with a group couple of months ago. Great hike and great, a bit extreme, weather. A mix of rain, hail, sun and snow.
