Major Mitchell Plateau is a 19.2km, grade 4 hike located in Grampians National Park, Victoria. The hike should take around 7 hours to complete.
Hike overview
This classic mountain walk traverses the exposed sub-alpine plateau linking the two highest summits in the Grampians. Both Mount William and Durd-Durd share the same elevation of 1167m.
Generally this hike commences at the Mount William carpark and descends to Jimmy Creek but we undertook it in the opposite direction due to my love for hills. It was a steep and steady climb for the first 9.2km of the hike so you need to be fit, able and well prepared.
Ensure you are well prepared with at least 3ltrs or water for this hike.
