Hike Summary
Pedal Pickups is a tour transport service to walkers & cyclists in the Yarra Valley area & surrounds
With a backdrop of mountains including Yarra Ranges National Park this trail passes through a scenic landscape following the Yarra River Valley.
Plenty of good places to stay and great things to consume in the region’s cafes, pubs, wineries and restaurants.
The trail has a climb up to Mt Evelyn from both directions.
There are still some crossings of busy roads remaining requiring care and patience.
There is strong community support to extend this rail trail to Yarra Glen, refer future developments below.

Just wondering please is this a made trail? Would it be suitable for road bike tyres
It’s gravel the entire way, great scenic ride.
Daniel O’Grady Thankyou
No worries!
Its the old railway track covered with Lilydale toppings, crushed limestone from the Lilydale Quarry.
The surface is fine for road bike tyres – you might find that stones get flicked up on the frame tho.
Matthew thanks for that info that’s what I needed to know ??
We loved this ride
Cristina Almada we could both drive, drop a car at either end and do it ??
We could ??
Is this what we are riding? Rosemary Andrykanus

We haven’t done the whole 40km but usually walk it weekly as its pretty much our backyard, great to walk or ride a bike. Can get busy on weekends with other bike riders or walkers so common sense and courtesy prevails… May even get the odd horse and rider…
