Hike Summary
The Peel Region is your place for natural adventures. Enjoy this beautiful river foreshore in the country town Boddington with walks and a weir with a large open park space with gazebo and BBQs available all year round to enjoy a tranquil BBQ with friends and family.
A pretty walk trail runs alongside The Hotham River through Boddington. In summer, you are able to walk along the weir to the other side of the river and enjoy the wildlife on and around the river’s edge. The river also offers the opportunity to fish for local fish species, take a canoe ride or cool off in the shallows. A Picnic Area next to a weir on the banks of the river features a public BBQ, rotunda and toilets. Lions Weir is a delightful spot to relax where a small dam has been created in the Hotham River to create a year-round haven for water Birds and fish. A fish ladder (series of rock pools) has been built adjoining and up to top of the wall to enable fish to swim upstream in the spawning season.
About the region
Nestled on the banks of the Hotham River is the township of Boddington. Located within easy reach of the metropolitan area, the Boddington Shire boasts rural living at its best with essential services close at hand.
