Greater Bendigo National Park: A Goldfields Wilderness

Greater Bendigo National Park, approximately 188 kilometres north of Melbourne, Victoria, is situated on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung People. This significant cultural landscape is home to a rich tapestry of Aboriginal heritage, including scarred trees, mounds, and stone artefacts. The park is jointly managed by the Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation and Parks Victoria, ensuring respect for the cultural significance of the land.

The park protects diverse ecosystems, including Box-Ironbark forest, broombush mallee, and grassy woodlands. Renowned for its stunning wildflower displays in spring, the park also provides habitat for a variety of wildlife, including the Swift Parrot.

Notley Campground offers a base for exploring the park’s walking tracks and enjoying the panoramic views from One Tree Hill Lookout. Visitors can delve into the region’s gold rush history along the Old Tom Mine Walk and even try their hand at fossicking.
