Hike overview
Take a dip in the natural spa pool at Hamersley Gorge in Karijini National Park, and enjoy a spa treatment the way nature intended - surrounded by amazing rock formations almost as old as the Earth itself.
There are a couple of walks around Hamersley Gorge in Karijini National Park. Hamersley Waterfall Walk (Grade 3) is a 400m, 30 minute return trip. This walk begins as steps, allowing access for most visitors. This walk boasts ever changing light and astonishing colours and reflections which highlight the complex geological forces in the landscape.
Hamersley Gorge Walk (Grade 4) is a 1km, 3 hour return walk. One of the more difficult walks in the Gorge, the track leads upstream past still pools and polished boulders to 'The Grotto' - a fern-lined chasm, well hidden in the eastern side of the gorge. Swirls of rock sweep down through the gorge and waterfalls rush into tranquil pools.
You can clamber through the pools and up the rocks to an upstream pool known as Spa Pool; a heart-shaped pool where you can relax under a small waterfall. Karijini is a bushwalker's delight, so whilst in the area try the many other walks including Knox lookout, Knox Gorge, Joffre Lookout, Joffre Falls and Handrail Pool.

About the region
Karijini National Park offers spectacular rugged scenery, ancient geological formations, a variety of arid-land ecosystems and a range of recreational experiences. Covering 627,422 hectares just north of the Tropic of Capricorn in the Hamersley Range, Karijini National Park is Western Australia's second largest national park. Massive mountains and escarpments rise out of the flat valleys. The high plateau is dissected by breathtaking gorges, and stony, tree-lined watercourses wind their way over the dusty plain. Erosion has slowly carved this landscape out of rocks that are over 2,500 million years old. There are many beautiful gorges and sites to visit in Karijini National Park, but be sure to include Dales Gorge, Fortescue Falls, Weano Gorge and Oxers Lookout.
