Dubbo to Molong Rail Trail is a 130km, grade 2 hike located in Country NSW, New South Wales. The hike should take around 8 days to complete.
Hike overview
This trail is not opened or developed. It is one of 17 potential rail trails in NSW
It would be almost 130km in length, making it ideal for a one day ride for the enthusiast, or a multi day tour for the touring cyclist.
The trail has two major towns at the start and finish, with two delightful vlllages in between.
The major towns of Dubbo and Molong are well serviced by public transport, have plenty of accommodation and places to eat.
The villages of Yeoval and Cumnock both have accommodation and meals available.
The railway passes through rolling country side and has many embankments, cuttings and bridges for railway enthusiasts to enjoy.
Some station buildings and railway infrastructure still exists at Yeoval and Cumnock
This trail is not yet open.
This 129km railway from Molong ot Dubbo opened in 1925 and basically paralled the main Orange - Dubbo railway while serving the many communities along the way. Operations ceased in 1991 except for 2 km at Molong that is used for a passing siding on the main western line to Broken Hill.

Is it able to be walked even though it’s not officially open?
I was sad to read that this trail is yet to be developed. I hope it happens because that would be a lovely walk!
